“I was very excited to learn that Shannon was running for school board. I met Shannon when my son started band at Wauwatosa East. She was a Band Boosters board member, and I had just joined the board. She was so warm and welcoming; helped show me the ropes as a band parent and became a huge cheerleader for my son who has special needs. I have no doubt Shannon will advocate for all Wauwatosa students, and I know she has a special place in her heart for kids with special needs. Shannon has always put value in the extracurricular opportunities in our schools. I know she will advocate for all students so they can experience success just like my son had in band. I cannot wait to vote for her in April!”
— Jenni Dugan, Friend/Tosa East Band Mom
“I have had the honor of knowing Shannon for the last three decades. During our years of friendship we attended Wauwatosa East together, where Shannon was active in a variety of student activities from band to theatre. After high school we remained close friends, watching each other raise our children. Shannon has always been an active participant in Aidan’s schooling and extra curricular activities, serving on boards and regularly volunteering. Shannon has been outspoken in advocating for not just her child but the children of Wauwatosa serving on the committee that revamped the Human Growth and Development Curriculum, advocating for the district’s music, arts, and STEM programs. Just a few short months ago I encouraged Shannon to run for school board because I knew she could make a difference. When the opportunity arose I knew she was a candidate I could advocate for. Shannon is a voice for all of Wauwatosa.”

“I believe I have a unique insight into why my mom is the right candidate for the Wauwatosa School Board because as a junior at Tosa East I was a student school board rep. Frequently, my mom and I would discuss the issues presented during the school board meetings. During those discussions, I saw how invested in and passionate about Tosa’s quality of education she is, even when she was only a parent. I know that as a School Board member my mom will bring that same investment and passion. Another reason my mom would make a valuable school board member is that she always wants to know the other side of the story. She doesn’t only want to hear about an issue from one perspective, she wants the full picture with everyone it impacts. From students, to teachers, to administrators, to parents, my mom is someone who will listen.”
